This artwork emerged against the backdrop of my life in the past two years, resonating with elements in society that are marginalized and excluded from formal planning. By providing vitality to discarded weeds, I aim to explore the existence of marginalized communities within the framework of social planning and power structures. The space is filled with soil, creating conditions for the growth of wild grass, symbolizing that even in specific contexts, marginalized existence still has space and potential for survival.
The well-organized garden displayed on three screens contrasts with the orderliness of political power structures. Through this juxtaposition, I seek to remind the audience that the orderliness in social planning is not always indicative of inclusivity and justice. The growth of weeds, on the other hand, conveys a resilience towards life and a commitment to individual rights, even in cases where they are not formally acknowledged by society.
Therefore, this artwork serves as a metaphor for the boundaries of societal systems and the exclusionary nature of power, while also expressing concern and exploration of marginalized existence. In this context, viewers are prompted to contemplate the impact of political backgrounds on various aspects of society and reflect on how to examine and respect lives and rights that exist outside formal planning.
