This artwork reflects my profound contemplation on the interaction between society and individuals. I attempt to explore how external forces such as systems, ideologies, and authorities shape individual subjective agency, emphasizing the boundaries where social and natural attributes intersect. Throughout this exploration, I observe that individuals, under the influence of societal constructions and imposed beliefs, often find themselves constrained by terms like "ideology, rights, and doctrines," significantly impacting their behavior.
By enveloping the entire space with newspapers, I aim to depict the external pressures that envelop and restrict individuals. The use of newspapers symbolizes societal norms and external forces controlling information, exerting pressure on individual behaviors. In this newspaper-covered environment, I choose to employ red ink, using fingerprints to cover the entire space. Fingerprints, as unique identifiers for each person, represent my pursuit of independence and freedom. These imprints not only serve as proof of individual existence in society but also as a challenge to societal boundaries.
The artwork utilizes the metaphorical room surrounded by boundaries to symbolize the limitations of external influences, prompting viewers to reflect on the nature of trust in these boundaries. Individuals begin to question whether they should believe in these imposed restrictions and if there is only one option for trust. Through the juxtaposition of newspapers and fingerprints, the artwork highlights the conflict between societal norms and individual freedom, conveying my profound reflections on societal boundaries and individual freedom, along with expressing emotions and insights on these themes. Overall, this artwork invites viewers to contemplate the position of individuals in society, stimulating deep reflections on the relationship between society and individuals.
